Study Desks and Power Tools

Today the Photographer, Historian, and Artist are working on the study desks.  I'm enjoying watching the Photographer teach them about safety and how to use tools to create or transform things into something new.

Our students are using math, science, art, and careful listening.  They have a sense of ownership in the process of creating their new desks!

Study Desks

Today, I went to Habitat for Humanity's Re-Store, a resale store which accepts and sells home-improvement goods.  The proceeds help to fund the construction of Habitat homes within the store's community.

We went there to look at appliances.  We came home with two used security desks (the kind you see at hospital entrances).  We paid only $20.00 for two potential study desks.

My husband and I had the same thought at the same time:  These could easily be turned into carrels.  So we bought them, loaded them in the back of the truck and brought them home.

My husband began working on them to create 2 desks with STORAGE space for our two young scholars.  I love projects like these.

Photos to come!

Planning

Since I'm starting to enjoy blogging, I'm setting up a homeschool blog in hopes that it will help me document and organize.

Today is Saturday.  Our plans are to finish up a game we started last night and finish cleaning the carpets.  Happy Saturday!
